16-427. Instruction of voters prior to election as to use of machine

  1. The board of supervisors or other authority in charge of elections where voting machines are used shall provide adequate facilities for instruction of voters prior to an election and shall cause to be placed in one or more convenient public places a voting machine or model with sample ballot labels affixed for the purpose of instructing voters in the operation of the machine.

  2. If the ballot labels used for this purpose are the same as those which will be used for the ensuing election, the counting mechanism of the machine shall be concealed from view until the machine is prepared for the election. If the machine or machines used for instruction purposes are not to be used at the election, the counting mechanism shall remain concealed from view until after the election.
