I have been both a disillusioned Democrat and a disillusioned Republican. I have come to the conclusion that there is not a dime's worth of difference between them -- the powers that be in each party seek to expand the size and scope of government, to the detriment of the people.
I have given up on the two-party system, and have dedicated myself to building a viable alternative in Arizona. To this end I have served as Chairman of the Reform Party of Arizona, and I now am running as a Libertarian.
I therefore call upon Independents, Libertarians, Reformers, members of the Constitution Party, disenfranchised Democrats and Republicans, and others of good will to help me build a principled alternative to the Democratic and Republican parties, which have been aptly described as two wings of the same bird of prey.
It is too early to tell if this will be a two-way or a three-way race. Of course my chances are better in a two-way race. But win or loose, I plan to hold my oponent's feet to the fire to discuss the issues that they would otherwise seek to avoid.
Some folks assume that if I am not part of the entrenched two-party system that I will be unable to accomplish anything even if elected. My first answer to that is simply that I will have one vote out of 535 in Congress. That is far greater leverage than your vote in the general election -- which does indeed count!
My second answer is that, since I am not beholden to the Democratic or Republican establishment, I can act as an honest broker representing the people of Arizona against politics as ususal, and leverage my swing vote to good advantage.
